One of the challenges of search engine marketing is to add text and information to the main page without ruining the design. Well, we found a way to add text, a little color, and movement to a page, without substantially changing the appearance. That way is the scrolling marquee.
Recently we had a big push with one of our clients to drive pages to the top of Google at all costs. We worked on pages and they worked on them too. They found when they added scrolling marquees to their pages, they moved up through the search engines quickly.
Scrolling marquees are not used much. To create a scrolling marquee just enclose text you want to scroll in tags. When you display the page the text will scroll through this area, effectively using just one line to display quite a lot of text. The idea is to scroll sentences that make sense AND contain a ton of keywords. It works out fine because it makes sense to scroll the keywords and it adds pizzazz by infusing the page with movement and color.
While attractive, the real reason behind the marquee is search engines. For now, search engines love them. While they do we'll lean on it as much as we can.
