Microsoft vs Google

For 30 years Microsoft has fought battles. They went to war with Apple, then with IBM, and finally with Netscape. They won them all. Bill Gates is a fierce competitor and always finishes first. He may not be best, but he is always first.

Until now…

For the first time in history Microsoft got trounced. A few years ago Microsoft felt pretty good about their MSN search engine. It was as good as the best search engines of the era, like Yahoo and Alta Vista. Then, out of nowhere, Google zoomed past MSN like a freight train going 90 miles per hour. Bill Gates was caught completely off guard. At the World Economic Forum in January 2004, Bill Gates admitted, "They kicked our butts" then quickly declared his next-generation engine would out-Google Google.

Fat chance. Google's founders (Sergey Brin and Larry Page) aren't easy to beat. They devised a Search system consisting of 50,000 Linux based computers that handle thousands of simultaneous searches, each taking less than one second to come up with millions of matching web pages ranked in order of relevance. They are so far advanced that Microsoft offered $10,000,000,000 (10 billion) to buy Google and they said no! How's that for competition?

Why is Microsoft fighting so hard? They know the Search holds the key to their future. Microsoft sees the Search as the foundation of their new operating system. Consider a computer that can tell you everything about anything! The company that delivers that capability will dominate the industry. Google is the first serious threat to Microsoft and they know it. We optimize for Google because they own the search market. A free listing on Google is the prize and we are doing our best to get it for you!
