What is keyword prominence and why is it important?
Keyword prominence refers to the position of a keyword in the HTML. Seasoned Web Marketing professionals know that many search engines give more importance to keywords that appear near the top of the HTML. The closer to the top the keyword is on the page, the more prominent.
You may want to consider keyword prominence when on the next re-design of the site. Keyword prominence refers to the position in the HTML. This may be quite different from the physical position of the Web page. The way to determine the keyword prominence is to "View Source" and then "Edit-Find" the keyword. The closer the keyword is to the top, the better the prominence.
This is a fine tune adjustment. Step one is to make sure your important keywords appear on your main page and throughout your site. Step two is to start moving those keywords to the top of the page to increase their prominence.
